Questa carta sarebbe utile per un mazzo focalizzato su incantesimi e creature artefatto, consentendo un lancio più efficiente tramite il tapping delle creature per il mana. Anche se il Capo Ingegnere può essere utile in certi mazzi ricchi di artefatti, ci sono potenzialmente carte migliori come l'Architetto Supremo, che non solo fornisce mana per gli incantesimi artefatto ma potenzia anche le creature artefatto. Il Capo Ingegnere potrebbe essere giocato nei mazzi che cercano di massimizzare la sinergia tra artefatti e l'efficienza del mana, specialmente in combinazione con altre carte che beneficiano dal tapping delle creature per il mana.

When using convoke to cast a spell with in its mana cost, first choose the value for X. That choice, plus any cost increases or decreases, will determine the spell’s total cost. Then you can tap creatures you control to help pay that cost. For example, if you cast Worldsoul Colossus (a spell with convoke and mana cost ) and choose X to be 3, the total cost is . If you tap two green creatures and two white creatures, you’ll have to pay .
