Kook zou het meest nuttig zijn in een rood aggro- of burn-deck dat tot doel heeft blauwe controledekken te verstoren die voor mana sterk afhankelijk zijn van eilanden. Hoewel Boil effectief kan zijn bij specifieke matchups, is het misschien niet de meest veelzijdige kaart voor algemeen gebruik. Kaarten als Blood Moon of Choke kunnen een vergelijkbare verstoring veroorzaken en tegelijkertijd een breder scala aan kaartspellen beïnvloeden, waardoor ze mogelijk betere opties zijn, afhankelijk van de metagame.
