Een controledeck dat zich richt op het verstoren van de spreuken van de tegenstander zou baat hebben bij het opnemen van Boreal Elemental, omdat het niet alleen een vliegende dreiging biedt, maar ook de kosten van gerichte spreuken van tegenstanders verhoogt, waardoor hun spelplan mogelijk wordt vertraagd. Hoewel Boreal Elemental een solide kaart is voor zijn prijs, zijn er betere opties zoals Archangel Avacyn die meer veelzijdigheid en impact op het bord bieden. Of Boreal Elemental gespeeld moet worden, hangt af van de specifieke strategie en meta van het deck, maar het kan in de juiste context een waardevolle toevoeging zijn.
