Caldera Hellion fits best in a creature-heavy Commander deck—especially Jund, Gruul, or Rakdos sacrifice, token, or graveyard-recursion decks—because you can sacrifice expendable creatures to its devour ability, trigger death or sacrifice effects, and then use its enters-the-battlefield ability to clear away small opposing creatures; however, the effect is symmetrical, so it can also destroy your remaining board, and paying five mana for a 3/3 makes it relatively inefficient. In most decks, `Blasphemous Act` is better as a board wipe because it deals 13 damage to each creature and often costs only one mana, while `Chain Reaction`, `Toxic Deluge`, or `Damnation` are also more reliable depending on your colors and budget; cards such as `Massacre Girl` may be better when you specifically want a creature-based sweeper. Caldera Hellion should generally not see competitive play, but it can be worthwhile in casual Commander decks built around sacrifice, death triggers, creature recursion, or
