Clockwork Avian zou goed kunnen passen in een midrange- of controledeck dat zich richt op het gebruik van vliegende wezens om een voordeel te behalen in gevechten terwijl de aanwezigheid op het bord behouden blijft. De mogelijkheid om +1/+0 counters toe te voegen maakt het mogelijk om de kracht te schalen, waardoor het een goede keuze is voor decks die het kunnen beschermen en de counters kunnen maximaliseren, vooral in een langzamer spel. Er zijn echter aantoonbaar betere opties, zoals Serra Angel of Stormwing Entity, die consistentere vliegbedreigingen of extra nut bieden. Hoewel Clockwork Avian het spel in informele formaten of specifieke builds kan zien, is het uiteindelijk misschien niet de meest competitieve keuze in een meer geoptimaliseerde omgeving.
