Consul's Shieldguard zou nuttig zijn in een aggro-deck op basis van witte energie in Magic: the Gathering, omdat het energietellers levert bij het betreden van het slagveld en een manier biedt om aanvallende wezens te beschermen door ze onverwoestbaar te maken. Hoewel het een solide opname in een dergelijk deck kan zijn, zijn er potentieel betere opties zoals Adanto Vanguard of Dauntless Bodyguard die meer directe waarde of bescherming bieden. Some triggered abilities state that you “may pay” a certain amount of . You can’t pay that amount multiple times to multiply the effect. You simply choose whether or not to pay that amount of as the ability resolves, and no player may take actions to try to stop the ability’s effect after you make your choice.
