De Edgewalker-kaart is het meest geschikt voor een Cleric-stamkaartspel in Magic: the Gathering, waar het de kosten voor het uitspreken van Cleric-spreuken aanzienlijk kan verlagen. Hoewel Edgewalker een waardevolle toevoeging is aan zo'n kaartspel, kunnen andere kaarten zoals [[Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth]] of [[Semblance Anvil]] een meer veelzijdige kostenbesparing bieden en kunnen ze als betere opties worden beschouwd, afhankelijk van de strategie van het kaartspel. Toch kan Edgewalker een sterke aanvulling zijn op het juiste kaartspel en zou hij zeker moeten worden ingezet in op Cleric gerichte strategieën vanwege zijn vermogen om manakosten te verlagen.
