Emboden zou vooral nuttig zijn in een controle- of midrange White Magic: the Gathering-deck, dat waardevolle bescherming biedt tegen schade aan meerdere doelen. Hoewel het nuttig nut heeft en met flashback vanaf het kerkhof kan worden herschikt, kunnen andere kaarten zoals Deflecting Palm of Settle the Wreckage een meer directe impact en veelzijdigheid bieden tegen vergelijkbare manakosten, waardoor ze mogelijk betere keuzes worden. Of Embolden het spel al dan niet ziet, hangt uiteindelijk af van de specifieke strategie en meta van het kaartspel waarin het is opgenomen.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you’re paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
