Een kaartspel dat zich richt op kaartvoordeel en kerkhofinteracties, zoals een controle- of reanimator-kaartspel, zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Facet Reader. Er zijn echter betere kaarten zoals Merfolk Looter of Jace, Vryn's Prodigy die vergelijkbare effecten bieden met extra voordelen. Facet Reader ziet mogelijk niet veel spel in competitieve decks vanwege de beperkte impact in vergelijking met andere beschikbare opties.
