Flusterstorm is een waardevolle toevoeging aan een controle- of combo-deck in Magic: the Gathering, omdat het een veelzijdige en efficiënte manier biedt om de spreuken van een tegenstander te onderbreken. Hoewel er misschien andere tegenspreuken zijn die verschillende voordelen bieden, zoals Force of Will of Mana Drain, kan Flusterstorms vermogen om te schalen met het aantal spreuken dat in een beurt wordt uitgesproken het tot een krachtig hulpmiddel in het juiste kaartspel maken.
