Een controledeck gericht op verwijdering en bordcontrole zou er baat bij hebben om Hex in hun deck op te nemen, omdat het een krachtige optie voor massale verwijdering biedt om meerdere bedreigingen tegelijk aan te pakken. Er zijn echter betere alternatieven zoals Damnation of Toxic Deluge die meer flexibiliteit en efficiëntie bieden in vergelijkbare situaties, waardoor ze de voorkeur verdienen boven Hex. Hoewel Hex situationeel nuttig kan zijn, wordt er mogelijk niet zoveel gespeeld in competitieve decks vanwege de beschikbaarheid van sterkere opties.
