However, in a competitive setting, there are better options such as Tarmogoyf or Death's Shadow, which are more consistent threats and easier to cast. While Lord of Extinction can be a powerful card in the right circumstances, it may not see as much play due to its high mana cost and vulnerability to graveyard hate.
