Mindbreak Trap is vooral effectief in controle- of tempodecks die tot doel hebben de strategieën van tegenstanders te verstoren door meerdere spreuken in één beurt tegen te gaan, vooral in formaten waar decks met veel spreuken de overhand hebben. Het kan vooral nuttig zijn in op blauw gebaseerde kaartspellen die kaarten kunnen trekken en de spelstatus kunnen manipuleren, waardoor de valvoorwaarde tijdig kan worden geactiveerd. Hoewel er andere counterspreuken zijn, zoals Force of Will of Cryptic Command, die veelzijdigheid bieden, kan het unieke vermogen van Mindbreak Trap om meerdere spreuken gratis te verbannen van onschatbare waarde zijn in specifieke matchups, vooral tegen combo- of spell-centric decks. Over het algemeen zou het in bepaalde metagames moeten worden gespeeld, vooral wanneer tegenstanders vaak meerdere spreuken per beurt uitspreken.

If a spell is exiled, it’s removed from the stack and thus will not resolve. The spell isn’t countered; it just no longer exists. This works on spells that can’t be countered, such as Terra Stomper.

You may ignore a Trap’s alternative cost condition and simply cast it for its normal mana cost. This is true even if its alternative cost condition has been met.
