Mudslide kan een thuis vinden in een controledek dat tot doel heeft de niet-vliegende wezens van tegenstanders op te sluiten, waardoor hun bordontwikkeling wordt verstoord. De hoge kosten van {2} per ongebruikt wezen kunnen echter de effectiviteit ervan beperken in snellere formaten zoals Standaard of Modern. Andere kaarten zoals Stasis of Winter Orb kunnen een soortgelijk effect bieden met meer efficiëntie, waardoor Mudslide minder snel in competitieve omgevingen wordt gespeeld, tenzij in een gespecialiseerde build die zich richt op het neerhalen van niet-vliegende wezens.

First the player chooses all the tapped creatures they would like to untap this way. Then the entire payment is made at once, then all of those creatures untap at the same time. If the entire payment can’t be paid (because the player chose too many creatures, for example), none of it is paid and none of those creatures untap.
