A control deck in a multiplayer setting would benefit from using Overwhelming Denial due to its ability to counter a spell without the risk of being countered itself, especially when cast for its surge cost. While Overwhelming Denial is a strong card, it may be overshadowed by other counterspells like Cryptic Command or Force of Will, which offer more versatility or flexibility in certain situations. However, in the right deck and meta, Overwhelming Denial could definitely see play as a powerful and reliable counter option.
