Prognostische Sphinx zou ten goede komen aan een controledek dat het kaartvoordeel wil behouden en zijn belangrijkste wezens wil beschermen. Hoewel het ontwijking, kaartselectie en tijdelijke bescherming biedt, kunnen de hoge manakosten de effectiviteit ervan in snellere formaten beperken. In een langzamere, meer controlerende omgeving zou Prognostic Sphinx spel kunnen zien, maar er zijn mogelijk betere opties beschikbaar, zoals Torrential Gearhulk, die vergelijkbare voordelen biedt met een meer impactvolle body en flitsvermogen.
