Scrapdiver Serpent zou nuttig zijn in een kaartspel dat zich richt op synergetische artefacten, omdat het onblokkeerbaar kan worden als de verdedigende speler een artefact bestuurt. Er zijn echter betere kaarten zoals Inkwell Leviathan of Wurmcoil Engine die krachtigere effecten bieden voor vergelijkbare manakosten, waardoor het minder waarschijnlijk is dat Scrapdiver Serpent wordt gespeeld in competitieve Magic: the Gathering-decks.
