Een op controle of verstoring gebaseerd kaartspel dat tot doel heeft het spelplan van de tegenstander te verstoren door belangrijke bedreigingen of middelen uit zijn hand te verwijderen, zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Transgress the Mind. Hoewel Transgress the Mind een solide optie is voor budgetdecks of voor spelers die specifieke strategieën willen ontwrichten, zijn er krachtigere opties zoals Thoughtseize of Inquisition of Kozilek die meer flexibiliteit en efficiëntie bieden bij het richten op elke kaart in de hand van de tegenstander. Uiteindelijk zou de beslissing om Transgress the Mind in een kaartspel op te nemen afhangen van de specifieke metagame en de algemene strategie van het kaartspel.

Cards with devoid use frames that are variations of the transparent frame traditionally used for Eldrazi. The top part of the card features some color over a background based on the texture of the hedrons that once imprisoned the Eldrazi. This coloration is intended to aid deckbuilding and game play.

If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object’s color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.

Other cards and abilities can give a card with devoid color. If that happens, it’s just the new color, not that color and colorless.
