**Volatile Rift** zou het beste passen in een Gruul (rood/groen) of veelkleurig 'toolbox'-deck dat consequent wezenkaarten uit de bibliotheek in de hand houdt - via effecten zoals docenten (bijvoorbeeld *Worldly Tutor*, *Shared Summons*), impulstrekking die wezens specificeert, of herhaalbare wezenszoekmachines - zodat het herhaaldelijk Vivid kan activeren en die wezens in grote, agressieve bedreigingen kan veranderen voordat ze worden gecast; het is vooral aantrekkelijk in builds met 3-5 kleuren waarbij de +X/+0-boost consistent +3 tot +5 is. De kaart geeft echter alleen een krachtboost (geen robuustheid, ontwijking of kostenreductie), doet op zichzelf niets en vereist zowel bibliotheek-naar-hand-beweging als bordontwikkeling om goed te kunnen schalen, waardoor het langzamer en minder impactvol is dan alternatieven zoals *Guardian Project* of *The Great Henge* (die een echt kaartvoordeel en bordaanwezigheid genereren) of eenvoudige anthem/haste-enablers zoals *Xenagos, God of Revels
