Een kaartspel dat zich richt op tempo en ontwijking zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Walking Dream, omdat het een moeilijk te blokkeren dreiging biedt die druk kan uitoefenen op tegenstanders. Er zijn echter betere kaarten met vergelijkbare effecten, zoals Invisible Stalker of Slippery Bogle, die een ingebouwde hexproof hebben om ze tegen verwijdering te beschermen. Walking Dream kan moeite hebben om spel in competitieve formats te zien vanwege de kwetsbaarheid om te worden afgetapt door wezens van tegenstanders.
