Een tribaal kaartspel gericht op wezenstypes die waarschijnlijk overeenkomen met Wandering Graybeard, zoals reuzen of tovenaars, zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van deze kaart om consistent leven te verwerven. Er zijn echter potentieel betere kaarten voor levenswinst in Magic: the Gathering, zoals Archangel of Thune of Baneslayer Angel, die impactvollere effecten bieden. Wandering Graybeard zou kunnen zien spelen in informele tribale decks of decks die op zoek zijn naar extra levenswinst, maar zijn mogelijk niet competitief in meer geoptimaliseerde strategieën.
