A control deck that heavily relies on instant and sorcery spells would benefit the most from using Mystic Sanctuary, as it allows for recurring powerful spells from the graveyard. While Mystic Sanctuary is a strong card in the right deck, some may argue that cards like Flooded Strand or Polluted Delta could be better options for fetching specific lands and thinning the deck. However, Mystic Sanctuary can still see play in decks looking to maximize the value of their spells and graveyard interactions.

An Island is a land with the subtype Island, not any land that could produce blue mana. For example, Mystic Sanctuary is an Island, but Castle Vantress isn’t.

As these lands are entering the battlefield, they check for lands that are already on the battlefield. They won’t see lands that are entering the battlefield at the same time (due to Scapeshift, for example).
