About Time Stop

Time Stop, Instant, designed by Scott M. Fischer first released in Oct, 2004 in the set Champions of Kamigawa and was printed exactly in 6 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 23.74.

A control deck focused on disrupting the opponent's strategy and maintaining board control would benefit from using Time Stop in Magic: the Gathering. While Time Stop can be a powerful tool for shutting down an opponent's turn and preventing key plays, it is a high-cost card that may not always be the most efficient choice. Cards like Time Walk or Nexus of Fate may offer better value for similar effects, making Time Stop less likely to see play in competitive decks.

Ending the turn this way means the following things happen in order: 1) All spells and abilities on the stack are exiled. This includes Time Stop, though it will continue to resolve. It also includes spells and abilities that can’t be countered. 2) All attacking and blocking creatures are removed from combat. 3) State-based actions are checked. No player gets priority, and no triggered abilities are put onto the stack. 4) The current phase and/or step ends. The game skips straight to the cleanup step. The cleanup step happens in its entirety.

Exiling a spell or ability prevents that spell or ability from resolving, but it doesn’t technically “counter” anything. This means that Time Stop can exile spells and abilities that “can’t be countered.”
