Roiling Canopy would mainly fit a mono-green, Forest-heavy landfall or ramp deck—especially a casual Commander deck that expects to control six or more Forests and wants repeated combat boosts—but it is probably too slow and narrow for competitive play: entering tapped costs tempo, it produces only one mana, and its ability does nothing until you already control at least five other Forests. In creature-focused decks, Oran-Rief, the Vastwood is generally better because it can place +1/+1 counters on multiple green creatures that entered that turn, while Castle Garenbrig, Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, or utility lands such as Yavimaya Hollow usually provide more valuable late-game effects; if you specifically want a land-based pump effect, Kessig Wolf Run is also more flexible. Roiling Canopy could see play as a fun budget inclusion in casual mono-green landfall, but it should not normally replace a basic Forest or stronger utility land in an optimized deck.
