Heartless Summoning is a powerful card that can greatly benefit decks focused on quickly playing out large creatures at a reduced cost, such as reanimator or ramp strategies. While the drawback of giving your creatures -1/-1 may seem significant, the cost reduction it provides can lead to explosive plays. However, there are other cards like Ugin, the Ineffable or Urza's Incubator that offer similar benefits without the negative effect, making them potentially better choices depending on the specific deck and strategy.
