Theorist’s Proxy would best fit a blue flash, tempo, control, or combo deck—especially one that wants to develop a Jace token while protecting a crucial finisher, tutor, or board wipe from countermagic; its Flash lets you keep mana open, and sacrificing it for `{U}` gives immediate protection, though the two-mana cost and requirement to spend a creature make it less efficient than dedicated alternatives. For repeatedly forcing spells through countermagic, Vexing Shusher is generally better because it can protect multiple spells and does not need to be sacrificed; Cavern of Souls is better for creature-heavy tribal decks, while Delighted Halfling is better for decks whose important spells are legendary creatures.
