Extended Absence

About Extended Absence

Extended Absence, Instant, designed by Nathaniel Himawan first released in September 2026 in the set Reality Fracture. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.01.

Extended Absence would best fit a black control, midrange, or Commander deck that values unconditional exile removal, especially a life-drain, lifegain, or multiplayer strategy where damaging every opponent makes its effect stronger; however, four mana is expensive for single-target removal, and in most 60-card formats cards such as `Infernal Grasp` or `Bitter Triumph` are better because they cost only two mana, while `Vraska's Contempt` offers the same exile effect with two life gained and may be preferable when life total matters more than damaging opponents. Extended Absence is more attractive in Commander, where it can exile either a creature or planeswalker and produce a larger life swing against multiple opponents, but it should generally see play only in slower Commander decks, budget lists, or decks specifically benefiting from its damage-and-lifegain clause; competitive formats should usually use cheaper alternatives.
