About Recursive Recruitment
Recursive Recruitment, Sorcery, designed by Dominik Mayer first released in September 2026 in the set Reality Fracture. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.01.
Recursive Recruitment fits best in a blue-black self-mill, surveil, or graveyard-focused deck that can reliably stock its graveyard while benefiting from creature tokens, +1/+1 counters, sacrifice outlets, or Wizard/Soldier tribal synergies; it is most attractive in Limited or casual Commander, where casting it normally makes two bodies and the late-game flashback can create sizable tokens. In competitive Constructed, however, four mana for two 2/2s is generally too slow and the eight-mana flashback is expensive, even with the counter bonus; cards such as Bitterblossom, Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic, or even Sedgemoor Witch usually generate tokens more efficiently if token production is the goal, while reanimation spells or self-mill payoffs such as Living Death, Rise from the Tides, or Syr Konrad, the Grim offer stronger graveyard rewards. It should see play primarily as a synergy card in slower graveyard-token Commander decks or as a reasonable Limited inclusion, but it is
Rules
08/21/2026
"Flashback [cost]" means "You may cast this card from your graveyard if the resulting spell is an instant or sorcery spell by paying [cost] rather than paying its mana cost" and "If the flashback cost was paid, exile this card instead of putting it anywhere else any time it would leave the stack."
08/21/2026
A spell cast using flashback will always be exiled afterward, whether it resolves, is countered, or leaves the stack in some other way.
08/21/2026
If a card with flashback is put into your graveyard during your turn, you can cast it if it's legal to do so before any other player can take any actions.
08/21/2026
To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost (such as a flashback cost) you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
08/21/2026
You can cast a spell using flashback even if it was somehow put into your graveyard without having been cast.
08/21/2026
You must still follow any timing restrictions and permissions, including those based on the card's type. For instance, you can cast a sorcery using flashback only when you could normally cast a sorcery.
