Impale would be beneficial in a control deck that focuses on removing threats from the opponent's board to maintain board control. While Impale is a decent removal spell, there are better options available such as Murder, which has the same mana cost but can target any creature, not just non-black creatures. Overall, Impale could see play in limited formats where removal is scarce, but in constructed formats, there are more efficient removal spells to consider.
