Een kaartspel dat zich richt op het beheersen van het bord en het verstoren van de wezens van de tegenstander zou baat hebben bij het opnemen van Crippling Fatigue, vooral in een op zwart gebaseerd controledek. Hoewel Crippling Fatigue een solide verwijderingsoptie is met potentieel voor extra waarde door de flashback-mogelijkheid, zijn er efficiëntere verwijderingsspreuken beschikbaar in formaten als Modern en Legacy, zoals Fatal Push of Dismember. Of Crippling Fatigue moet worden gespeeld, hangt af van de specifieke deckstrategie en metagame-overwegingen.

The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
