Spike Pit Trap would fit well in a midrange or control deck that aims to manage the board while generating value from spells. Its low cost and flash ability allow for reactive plays, making it useful in response to opponent's threats. However, there are arguably better options, such as Infernal Grasp or Fatal Push, which provide more reliable removal without the randomness of a d20 roll. While Spike Pit Trap can see play for its unique ability to generate Treasure tokens, which can help ramp into bigger threats, it may not be the most efficient choice compared to more consistent removal spells in competitive formats.
