Wizards will reopen sanctioned play in US on May 28!

Wizards announced today that will be reopening sanctioned events in the United Stated on May 28.

The suspension of sanctioned events and tabletop games were part of the measures created in the last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the beginning of the Month, Wizards had already reopened sanctioned play at Asia, Japan, and Africa. Although they are authorizing sanctioned games, it's up to each store when and how will vary store by store per their local guidelines.

In addition to in-store play, remote Prerelease events through SpellTable beta will continue to be available for everyone to play at home as well.

The company will also adopt new measures to promote the acquisition of sealed products on WPN Stores:

As of June 18 , if you purchase US$ 50 or more in sealed Magic: The Gathering products at any WPN store around the world, you will receive a Fabled Passage Foil, Promo and Old-border treatment. And as more opportunities for in-store play appear, more iconic old-frame cards will be available as promos!

In addition, later this year Wizards will be making a limited amount of Mystery Boosters Convention Edition available to WPN stores, geared especially towards the draft and to create a "welcome back" experience for returning players.
