Introduction

If you're still hung up on Final Fantasy, building and exploring deck ideas with the legendaries from this set, trust me, you're not alone!

Today's article is for everyone who loves casual play and doesn't care about playing the strongest commander or the most optimized deck to have fun with their friends. If you prefer decks with unpopular mechanics, you'll certainly find one in this article.

We'll show you 10 legendary creatures from Final Fantasylink outside website that could be extremely fun in your builds. Let's meet them!

10 Fun & Unusual Commanders from Final Fantasy

1. Bartz and Boko

What if we built a Mono Green Magic Symbol g Bird Kindred list?

Bartz and Boko, heroically illustrated as a knight and his Chocobo companion in the card above, is precisely the type of funny creature that could be incredible in casual Commander pods.

One of the coolest things about Commander is that you can create a deck just to prove a point. This is one of them. With several Changelings and Birds (and some of the most unusual MTG creatures that can go in a Mono Green deck), this list can be quite budget-friendly, though the one above does play some extravagant cards. In any case, Bartz and Boko has simple effects, so you won't take too long to learn how to play it.

It also uses Chocobo-themed cards from this set. It's quite fun.

2. Cid, Timeless Artificer

If playing one copy of your commander is already quite cool, imagine playing a bit over a dozen of them.

Ladies and gentlemen, our favorite artificer: Cid, Timeless Artificer!

In the Final Fantasy games, Cid helps the protagonists, and he also does that in this list, in a way, considering you're always the protagonist of all your matches. He'll support you through some very fun matches that will force your opponents to play more exile cards in their decks.

This deck won't set up elaborate plays. Instead, it will do something very simple: put Cids in the graveyard and, eventually, bring them to the board to create a super league of Cids buffed by other Cids.

Could this be the infamous single-creature list?

3. Quina, Qu Gourmet

Is our third deck a Frog deck? No! It's a token deck that creates Frogs!

With Quina, Qu Gourmet, creating tokens will gain new meaning. This list will give us an army of friendly Frogs to threaten our opponents and win, all with a very aggressive commander.

The main mechanic is very simple, so it's great if you've just started to play Commander. You can also build it for very cheap.

4. Zidane, Tantalus Thief

Speaking of budget lists, I recently borrowed a Zidane, Tantalus Thief list from a friend (thanks, Denis!) to show you all how much potential this commander has for fun, cheap strategies.

I'm sure you just took one look at this list and remembered several cards you had forgotten in a shoebox somewhere.

Zidane proves decks don't need a lot to work. And that, sometimes, the stronger your opponent's deck is, the stronger yours will be too.

5. Mog, Moogle Warrior

Let's dance with Mog, Moogle Warrior?

This friendly creature is always on beat! It will help you celebrate multiple wins with its small army of dancing Moogles!

Like Group Hug lists, Mog does well when your opponents accept your offer to draw and discard a card. This deck can create a true army of dancing Moogles (or would that just be a dancing troupe?) that, through lifelink, will give you a lot of life and grow until they can kill your opponents.

6. Edgar, King of Figaro

Playing Coins is not the most popular strategy in MTG. It probably never appeared in any popularity ranking ever, in fact.

However, Edgar, King of Figaro doesn't need to play Coins to work.

Let's build a Mono Blue Magic Symbol u artifact list?

With Edgar, we can combine blink with artifacts. Like most artifact decks, at some point you'll probably find a combo, but that's just an afterthought.

7. Ultimecia, Time Sorceress

Ok, this one is probably not that fun, but it certainly has a lot of potential for chaos.

So, if you enjoy being the enemy in your Commander matches, have no issue getting as much as you can from mono blue lists, and like mechanics like Surveil or self-mill, you need to meet Ultimecia.

This deck combines Surveil with a little bit of blink. The goal is to keep transforming the commander and, right afterward, blink it to get extra turns.

Ultimecia won't give you a clear win condition, but it'll certainly make you and your friends spend many hours together (having fun... or not).

8. Sephiroth, Planet's Heir

Legendary creatures from Starter Decks are always interesting, but we don't see them that much in casual Commander pods.

As cool as Sephiroth, Planet's Heir is, he is somewhat in limbo now and quite forgotten compared to his Mono Black Magic Symbol b version.

So, let's explore a few possibilities with this Dimir Sephiroth!

When he enters, he is a removal. He also grows when you remove enemy creatures. With Maha, Its Feathers Night, you can be sure that, whenever he enters play, he'll kill many creatures.

9. Sin, Spira's Punishment

If you enjoy giant commanders, then you'll certainly like this one.

Sin, Spira's Punishment is what we call a big boy. It also has an incredibly fun effect that copies permanents from your graveyard at random. This means every game with it will be different.

Besides its abilities, Spin is a 7/7 with flying that can kill your opponents with just three attacks in Commander.

In this color combination, Sultai, you certainly can find many great permanents that will make a huge difference if you copy them.

10. Absolute virtue

What could be more fun than a commander that can't be countered and is in the best color combination for a classic Pillowfort strategy?

Meet Absolute Virtue!

Believe it or not, but the strongest card in this list isn't Propaganda or similar, but rather The Council of Four. With Council in play, you can draw more cards and create 2/2 Knight tokens.

Platinum Angel is also great. With its effect, you'll be able to survive for as long as you need.

Finally, Grand Arbiter Augustin IV might be known as a party pooper, but, in this list, it will discount the cost of many cards for us, which is always welcome. It will also tax our opponents and delay their plans.

Final Words

Final Fantasy includes commanders for all types of players.

This means strong commanders, casual commanders, commanders that cause a lot of chaos in for fun matches or that are very political. Regardless of which type of player you are, you'll certainly find a new commander who fits your game style in this set.

In any case, you can also set up a few challenges with your friends, work with a certain budget or game changers, and develop, together, fun and unusual decks for every taste!

And the best part of all: this set includes cards that were solely designed for Commander. So, why not take advantage of it?
