Rewrite Regrets would fit best in a slower Dimir or Grixis graveyard-value deck that self-mills, loots, or trades creatures early and wants to recur impactful creatures or planeswalkers costing six or less, with extra appeal in a Jace-themed deck where the Empower Jace 2 mode provides repeatable surveilling or card draw; however, at four mana and sorcery speed, it is generally weaker than efficient reanimation staples such as **Reanimate** (one mana, any creature, at the cost of life), **Animate Dead** (two mana), **Exhume** (two mana, though symmetrical), **Persist** (two mana for a nonlegendary creature), and even **Victimize** in creature-heavy lists, while **Zombify** is the closest straightforward comparison at the same cost but can return creatures of any mana value.
