Introduction - Logbook, 2025
Greetings, Legacy community!
Another spoiler season has just ended, and another is already underway, this time through the eternity of the cosmos! Edge of Eternities brought us back to the Magic: The Gathering universe, but, this time, we're in the Blind Eternities, the space between the planes of the Multiverse. WotC had never explored such a theme before, so I'm very excited to see what they'll do!
Let's see what the cosmos have in store for our format!
Mechanics
Edge of Eternities features a series of new mechanics, which, as usual, are very simple to understand if you also check out this article by our house judge, Antônio Carlos.
The new mechanics are, however, Warp, Station, and Void, as well as the new permanent types Spacecraft and Planet. There's also a new token, Lander. Out of all these mechanics, Warp was the one that most stood out to me for Legacy because it might have some interesting interactions. After all, these cards go in play earlier than usual.
Well, let's see what we have!
White
Astelli Reclaimer

If it weren't for its Warp, I wouldn't even mention this card because it costs 5 mana and that's too much. However, as you can summon it earlier than usual with Warp then cast it again later on, it is quite interesting. Particularly as a way to create resources in control lists.
Cosmogrand Zenith

Cori-Steel Cutter proved this type of effect can be quite decent, and Zenith costs the right amount of mana for white Stompy decks. These decks will be able to activate it with Chrome Mox and Lotus Petal, for instance.
Honor

This card is simple, but also costs 1 mana, isn't blue, and draws cards. It also has a relevant extra effect.
Lightstall Inquisitor

This card has an aggressive body and disrupts the opponent. In a format as efficient as Legacy, forcing the opponent to play one extra mana, even if Inquisitor leaves play, can make a difference.
Pinnacle Starcage

This is a global removal that can, at times, create a win condition in control decks. Please note that it also affects artifact lands.
Scout for Survivors

This card can create a lot of value, even when it only brings back 2 creatures. You should keep an eye on decks with the MH3 trio - Guide of Souls, Ocelot Pride, and Ajani, Nacatl Pariah.
Starfield Shepherd

This card seems interesting in Flicker decks (that is, decks that exile and return another creature to the board). In a Yorion DnT, for instance, it will give you both your lands early on as well as extra creatures if you already have enough mana.
Blue
Cryogen Relic

These 2 mana artifacts that draw a card when they enter and when they leave always find space in some decks. This one also pays for Force of Will and can sacrifice itself as a bonus.
Emissary Escort

With things like Kappa Cannoneer, Frogmyr Enforcer, or Sojourner's Companion, this fella could become quite powerful. Particularly in aggressive blue artifact lists.
Gigastorm Titan

Are there any Blue Stompy lists around? With a Lotus Petal or a Chrome Mox, this monster is a 4/4 for 2 mana that enters play on turn 1.
Illvoi Galeblade

This card seems interesting in Ninja lists. It is evasive early on, its Flash lets you keep a few options open (Brainstorm or Fatal Push on turn 1), and, later on, you can simply sacrifice it for an extra card.
Mm’Menon, the Right Hand

This card could see play at the end of the curve in blue artifact decks and create a lot of value for them.
Quantum Riddler

This is a 5-mana card that you play for 2. Do you know what it reminds me of? up the Beanstalk. Riddler and this beanstalk could become fast friends.
Uthros Research Craft

Unlike other Spacecrafts, you're not interested in turning this one into a creature, but simply getting to its first stage and creating a card draw engine. Its final form is just a bonus.
Black
Archenemy’s Charm

This is a flexible card that will always be useful in Monoblack lists. Its modes might be a bit expensive, but this variety of options is usually quite attractive to players.
Timeline Culler

Culler is incredibly difficult to deal with because you don't have to spend much to bring it back to life. Unlike similar creatures (Gravecrawler, Bloodghast), it can also block, so it can be defensive if you need to.
Xu-Ifit, Osteoharmonist

It is a distant dream, but I can see someone bringing back Phyrexian Dreadnought with this card.
Zero Point Ballad

This is an adjustable global removal. For 2 or 3 mana, it can clear some enemy boards and leave yours intact.
Red
Devastating Onslaught

We covered Onslaught in our last article. This card can end the game on the spot but relies on a few conditions to truly be effective. I still think it's worth a try.
Melded Moxite

I'm always hopeful these types of effects can find some space in Legacy. Moxile also creates value in the future besides just filtering cards.
Nova Hellkite

We also discussed this card in our last article. It has a lot of potential for Red Stompy, particularly with Broadside Bombardiers.
Tannuk, Steadfast Second

It seems they did it just to spite me. I had just finished this review for the Edge of Eternities spoilers, and, minutes later, this card comes out. And it seems very interesting. I could easily write a whole article about it.
Tannuk seems incredibly interesting for Red Stompy: granting haste can be quite cool with things other than Broadside Bombardiers, and giving Warp to your other cards is quite cool as well. The protection from The One Ring will trigger twice (once when you summon it through Warp and once when you summon it from the exile), and Pyrogoyf and Fury trigger twice too (keep in mind you can play the Fury with Warp for its Evoke cost, if you need to).
It all gets really interesting when you consider using it as a pseudo-Sneak Attack. It might not cheat out an Emrakul, the Aeons Torn or Atraxa, Grand Unifier into play, but it can put nice things like Blightsteel Colossus or Sundering Titan in play. You wouldn't use these cards in your main deck, but they could conveniently stay in your sideboard, just waiting for Karn, the Great Creator to spring them into action.
Tannuk is a deckbuilder's dream, as you can put it in Red, Painter, or something new. By far, this is the card that most stood out to me in this entire set.
Green
Edge Rover

This is a very aggressive creature that costs 1 mana, and its drawback effect isn't even that bad.
Frenzied Baloth

This Questing Beast offspring is quite cool. It has a lot of abilities but doesn't cost a lot of mana, and please note it ignores The One Ring's damage prevention.
Icetill Explorer

This card could very well replace Ramunap Excavator in Green Sun's Zenith lists.
Mightform Harmonizer

This guy could be really cool with Tifa Lockhart.
Gold
Cosmogoyf

Legacy has many efficient ways to exile stuff from the graveyard, such as Delve, for instance. With them, this Lhurgoyf will be a giant threat for just 2 mana.
Syr Vondam, Sunstar Exemplar

This card could be worth a try in Orzhov Death and Taxes.
Tannuk, Memorial Ensign

This card will be decent in Landfall decks as a way to get more resources throughout the match.
Colorless
Tezzeret, Cruel Captain

Tezzeret could grow a lot and quite fast in those decks that play a decent number of 0-cost artifacts. It tutors keywords to many strategies and could get out of control if the opponent can't put pressure on it. Getting more than one emblem won't be too rare.
Artifacts
Bygone Colossus

Certainly someone will kill me with this and Broadside Bombardiers.
Nutrient Block

An artifact that draws 1 card for 1 mana in decks that can sacrifice it can be quite efficient. Could we finally see a Krark-Clan Ironworks list in Legacy?
Thrumming Hivepool

Slivers was, for a long time, one of the strongest Kindred decks in Legacy, but it slowly disappeared. Now, Hivepool could easily enter play for 3 mana or less and make this hive quite resilient and scary. Especially considering that, even if your creatures are destroyed, on the next turn you'll have 2 more Slivers with haste and double strike, ready for a new attack. And they'll be even more dangerous whenever you add another Lord to the mix.
I believe this card could breathe some new life into an old, beloved archetype.
The Dominion Bracelet

I can only think of this attached to a Phyrexian Dreadnought.
The Endstone

This card smells like combo, but I don't know if it's better than what Mystic Forge lists already do.
Lands
Eumidian Hatchery

A land that comes into play untapped and creates colored mana should always be considered. It reminds me of Flagstones of Trokair, a land your opponent would rather not spend Wasteland on, and that can create value in the future with cards like Crop Rotation or your own Wasteland.
Secluded Starforge

An upgraded Urza's Factory! Unfortunately, that is still probably not enough to make it see play, though it will give artifact decks ways to win through attrition.
To Infinity and Beyond - Final Words
Overall, I enjoyed Edge more than Final Fantasy - for Legacy, in particular. I would truly enjoy it if Tannuk, Steadfast Second found some space because it is very promising.
