Warhammer 40,000: Cards, Commanders, Release Date and More!

October 7th will be forever etched in Magic history. The newest collection in the Magic series: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond, a crossover with Warhammer 40,000, will be released.

From the union between these two giants of tabletop games, we will have four Commander Decks and three Secret Lair Drops.

What formats will Warhammer 40,000 be legal in?

The cards in this release will be legal in the eternal formats, such as Pauper, Legacy, Commander and Vintage.

Magic's most popular format will benefit the most from the new set. Commander will receive four preconstructed decks themed entirely around the Warhammer universe.

So far, we have the reprint of Fabricate, the commanders and sub-commanders of each of the decks; the full lists will be released during this week.

Those chosen to command the decks are familiar figures in the Warhammer landscape:

The Swarmlord is the worst representation of the Xenos. His race, the Tyranids, are one of the greatest threats to the known universe.

The Inquisitor Greyfax is part of the Imperial Inquisition, which seeks to prevent chaos from destroying humanity.

Szarekh, The Silent King, waking up from his tomb world, seeks progress at all costs.

Abaddon the Despoiler is commander of the Black Legion, the troops who gave themselves to the service of the gods of chaos.

Tyranid Swarm

The Swarmlord, Temur deck commander (Green, Blue and Red) benefits from the counter strategy, gaining card advantage with it.

Wizards defined it as a deck to devour enemies with giant creatures.

Forces of the Imperium

Inquisitor Greyfax, commander of the Esper Deck (White, Blue and Black) proves to be a true battle leader: her allies will receive attack and vigilance bonuses while they are captained by her.

Necron Dynasties

Szarekh, The Silent King, commander of the Mono Black Deck — the only monocolored among them— brings all the grandeur of a Necron who will do anything to strengthen his army of artifact creatures (androids) and vehicles.

The Ruinous Powers

Abaddon the Despoiler, commander of the Grixis (Blue, Black, and Red) deck, will benefit from the damage you deal to cast spells.

Under his command, there is only one belief: Chaos will reign.

Content of preconstructed decks

- 1 ready-to-play Warhammer-themed Commander deck

- Foil card from the respective commander

- 10 double-sided tokens, 1 life counter and 1 deck box

- 2 legendary foil cards

- 42 themed cards

It is confirmed that the set will receive three Secret Lair Drops, a series of collectible cards with unique and altered artwork for the partnership. The following Secret Lair Drops contents will be announced soon:
