Introduction
“The truth is, I didn't want to let her go. I'd come so far to find her, I was afraid of losing her again. But I had to be strong, for her sake. She had her own battles ahead. So I swallowed the words I wanted to say and hid my fear. It was the hardest thing I've ever done.”
- Serah
A commander that discounts the cost of your legendary creatures and also buffs them?
Meet Serah Farron, Lightning's youngest sister and the star of today's deck tech!
In this article, you'll find two lists with this commander. The first one includes interactions with +1/+1 counters and lifegain. The second includes fun legendaries with the most various effects and is a great toolbox list.
Without further ado, let's meet our commander!
Commander
Serah is probably one of the easiest creatures to transform WotC has ever released.

Her front side just discounts the cost of the first legendary spell you cast each turn. When you transform her, she becomes an artifact and buffs your legendary creatures by +2/+2.
Main Serah List
Luckily for us, legendary-themed decks are nothing new, and Final Fantasy itself brought us great new options. So, this particular list will be very flavorful if you're a Final Fantasy fan.
Our +1/+1 counters list is the following:
Let's start with our main mechanic: our Selesnya legendaries that interact with counters!
Counters and Buffs
Besides our commander, this list plays creatures that give themselves more counters or give more counters to creatures you control.

Arwen, Weaver of Hope is one of the most powerful new legendaries that interact with counters. Thanks to its effect, all creatures that you put in play after her will get +1/+1 counters equal to her toughness.
For instance, if Serah is transformed, gives +2/+2 to your legendaries, and Arwen is in play, Arwen's toughness will be 3. Any creature you put in play afterward will get 3 +1/+1 counters.

What usually gets in the way of counter decks is not having trample, and Surrak and Goreclaw solve that for us. Besides this incredibly critical keyword, these friends give +1/+1 and haste to any nontoken creatures that enter play under your control.
Akroma's Will is a versatile spell. It can both save your board and win the game for you. With all of these keywords and the best evasion around (protection from all colors), you'll hardly cast this spell and not kill at least one opponent.
Moreover, let's give an honorable mention to:

This Saga is a tutor for even your legendary creatures. Furthermore, its third chapter gives your creatures double strike until the end of the turn.
Casting Spells for Free
What's great about green is precisely how easily some cards put in play (or let you cast for free) permanent spells.
In this list, you'll find:

Loot, Exuberant Explorer is such a cool creature that we wrote an entire decktech for it. If you'd like to know more about this cutiepie, click here!
Firstly, this small Beast Noble lets us play extra lands on the board. It also has an activated ability that lets you look at the top six cards in your deck and put in play a creature you find there. The only catch is that this creature must have a mana value that is equal to or less than the number of lands you control.
Just like Loot, Ojer Kaslem, Deepest Growth also puts a creature directly on the board and lets you play extra lands.
In turn, Rishkar's Expertise is a card draw sorcery that also lets you cast a permanent that costs 5 or less from your hand without paying its cost.
Card Draw
Serah will be a lot of help. First, she'll discount the cost of the first legendary creature we play each turn, but this deck actually doesn't play that many expensive spells. You'll end up casting lots of them. To make sure you don't run out of cards, we added some great card draw.

We must highlight Kutzil, Malamet Exemplar from the list of cards above. It protects our board from enemy removals, and its activated ability draws cards quite frequently in this list. We must also highlight Reki, the History of Kamigawa, a friendly Shaman that draws a card whenever you cast a legendary spell.

Our dear Selvala, Heart of the Wilds works like card draw, but one of its greatest strengths is that it is actually a mana dork as well. It creates green mana equal to the power of your most powerful creature in play.
Ramp and Mana Rocks
All great green decks need spells to get lands so you can create an advantage with how much mana you'll have in play.
So we added:

Of course that, besides these, we also play mana dorks and cards that discount costs.

Alternative List
As for our alternative list, we added legendary cards with various effects, such as protection, Stax effects, and token creation.
This is our secondary list:
Some of our dear Selesnya creatures are also in this list:

It also plays a few monocolored creatures that are scary in any deck.

With them and the other permanents in this list, you'll have at your disposal a real toolbox to win games and prove legendaries are the best type of cards.
Final Words
Serah Farron is one of those legendaries that are quickly overshadowed by other cards in their sets but that actually have a lot of potential.
Either as your commander or one of the 99 cards in your deck, this creature will buff and discount the cost of your legendary cards. She is also great for beginners.
