This card would be beneficial in a green-based Heroic deck in Magic: the Gathering, where you can consistently target Pheres-Band Thunderhoof with spells to pump it up with +1/+1 counters. While it can be a strong addition to such a deck, there are arguably more efficient cards that offer similar effects, such as Favored Hoplite or Staunch-Hearted Warrior, which may see more play due to their lower mana cost and immediate impact on the battlefield.
