Un mazo centrado en controlar el tablero y eliminar criaturas pequeñas se beneficiaría al incluir Strangling Soot. Si bien proporciona una eliminación eficiente de amenazas de baja resistencia, existen opciones potencialmente mejores como Fatal Push o Lightning Bolt que ofrecen más versatilidad o menor costo de maná. Strangling Soot podría jugarse en metajuegos específicos donde su capacidad de exiliarse con flashback proporciona valor agregado, pero en general su inclusión dependería de las necesidades específicas del mazo y el meta actual.
