Mono Black Discard is another Black Midrange variant that emerged in Pauper aiming to take advantage of the Refurbished Familiar package and Draw 2 effects that sacrifice artifacts as its main tool for card advantage.
Unlike Mono Black Devotion, this variant relies on using several creatures with ETB effects that force the opponent to discard cards to exhaust their resources while keeping the battlefield clear with cheap removals.
The Decklist
Maindeck

All of our creatures aim to remove resources from the opponent's hand.
Virus Beetle is a Ravenous Rats that also counts as an artifact for Refurbished Familiar.
Chittering Rats isn't exactly a discard spell, but it can function as a pseudo-extra turn if we "lock" the opponent with a useless card in their hand.
Refurbished Familiar remains one of the best creatures in the format and functions as an evasive threat, in addition to exhausting the opponent's resources.
Okiba-Gang Shinobi doubles as another way to remove resources from the opponent's hand while allowing you to reuse the ETBs of your creatures.

The board interaction.
Grim Bauble resolves minor threats, feeds our card draw, and can also be sacrificed to filter the top of our deck.
Cast Down is the best unconditional removal in the format and works against any creature but is essential against major threats like Writhing Chrysalis.
Tithing Blade also counts as an artifact while resolving creatures that are difficult to deal with by other means, especially cards with Hexproof.
Suffocating Fumes deals with X/1 creatures from decks like Faeries, Mono Red Rally, and Elves, and is never a useless card in other matches, since we can use it as a cantrip due to Cycling.

Blood Fountain puts two artifacts onto the battlefield for one mana and functions as a recursion tool in the late-game, allowing us to reuse the ETBs of our creatures or transform Troll of Khazad-dûm into another potential win condition.
Ichor Wellspring and its classic combination with Draw 2 effects that sacrifice artifacts remain one of the best sources of card advantage in the format, and we don't rely on black mana to run Mephitic Draught, so it's better to have the colorless option.

Speaking of which, we aim to divide our draw sources into distinct effects that work for different matchups.
Reckoner’s Bargain is much better when we need to hold off the opponent's aggressive clock, while Eviscerator’s Insight is the best choice in attrition games, where we need an extra draw effect in the late-game.
Fanatical Offering puts a token on the board that counts towards Refurbished Familiar and feeds Eviscerator’s Insight in the late-game.

While we only use one card with Affinity, Vault of Whispers guarantees more consistency in casting it without additional concessions to be included in the list, and we can also use it as fuel for Dispute effects in very long games.
Troll of Khazad-dûm's main function is to secure our land for the turn, but we can return it to our hand with Blood Fountain to transform it into another wincondition.
Witch’s Cottage can be found with the Troll and provides another way to access creatures from our graveyard, while Bojuka Bog with four copies ensures that we don't end up simply favoring the opponent's plans without a way to respond to strategies that feed on the graveyard.
Sideboard

Mukotai Ambusher and Campfire are our tools to hold off Mono Red Aggro and Burn and also count as artifacts for the interactions in our list. Ambusher also allows us to reuse the ETBs of our creatures.

Four copies of Duress might seem redundant in a deck with so many discard effects, but dealing with an opponent's troublesome spells in certain matches is necessary to hold the game long enough to exhaust their remaining resources.
Nihil Spellbomb complements Bojuka Bog in graveyard hate and guarantees an instant response, as well as being an artifact to fuel our game plan.

Arms of Hadar complements sweepers, guaranteeing a clean answer against Faeries and other archetypes with many small creatures without removing our own.
Thorn of the Black Rose enters the attrition games like In Golgari Gardens, we need to generate recurring card advantage while still trading one-for-one with our opponent—the main reason for using it is that we have few creatures in our deck to steal the opponent's Monarch.
