Kozilek's Sentinel would be a great addition to a colorless or Eldrazi tribal deck in Magic: the Gathering, as it benefits from casting colorless spells, which are typically abundant in such decks. However, in a more competitive setting, there are better options like Thought-Knot Seer or Reality Smasher that offer more impactful abilities and stats for their cost, making them more viable choices for inclusion in a deck. Kozilek's Sentinel could still see play in more casual or thematic decks, where its flavor and synergy with colorless spells can shine.

Cards with devoid use frames that are variations of the transparent frame traditionally used for Eldrazi. The top part of the card features some color over a background based on the texture of the hedrons that once imprisoned the Eldrazi. This coloration is intended to aid deckbuilding and game play.

If a card loses devoid, it will still be colorless. This is because effects that change an object’s color (like the one created by devoid) are considered before the object loses devoid.
