Nightmarish End kan een nuttige aanvulling zijn op een controle- of midrange-deck dat zich richt op kaartvoordeel en handgroottemanipulatie, omdat het kan dienen als een krachtige verwijderingsspreuk die meegroeit met het aantal kaarten in je hand. Er zijn echter potentieel betere opties, zoals Fatal Push of Dismember, die consistentere en efficiëntere verwijdering bieden tegen lagere kosten, waardoor het minder waarschijnlijk is dat Nightmarish End wordt gespeeld in competitieve Magic: the Gathering-decks.
