Wizards of the Coast released today (12) the complete details of Magic: The Gathering — Avatar: The Last Airbenderlink outside website, new expansion of the Universes Beyond line that hits stores on November 21, 2025.

New Mechanic: Elemental Bending

The main new feature of the set is the introduction of the Avatar themed abilities: airbending, waterbending, earthbending and firebending, now incorporated into the gameplay:

Airbending allows to exile permanents, giving the controller the option to play them by paying Magic Symbol 2.

Waterbending offers an ability with an alternative cost: you can tap creatures or artifacts instead of mana when activating certain abilities.

Earthbending turns lands into creatures and puts +1/+1 counters on them, keeping the original land intact if it is destroyed or exiled.

Firebending makes a creature to generate red mana equal to its firebending number when attacking, which can be used to activate abilities or play instants.

Legality and Products

The set has two identification codes: TLA (legal in all formats) and TLE (legal only in Commander, Legacy, Timeless, and Vintage). Some booster packs combine cards from both versions.

    Commander's Bundle is an equivalent to the Gift Bundle, including a Collector Booster, nine Play Boosters, plus five non-foil promo cards, two of which are randomized and three are the same in all packs, plus 15 non-foil basic lands and 15 foil basic lands.

    The cards in the set will have four different variants:

    Borderless Raised Foil – Avatar Aang in raised foil version, appearing only in English Collector Boosters.

    Neon Foil “Battle Pose” Borderless – Characters like Zuko and Katara in vibrant and detailed poses. Some variants will be available in Play Boosters, while others will be exclusive to Collector Boosters, where they may receive the Neon Ink treatment.
