Een Boros Guildgate zou ten goede komen aan een kaartspel dat zich richt op rode en witte mana-bronnen, vooral in een langzamere strategie waarbij getikt binnenkomen geen significant nadeel is. Er zijn echter betere opties beschikbaar zoals Sacred Foundry, die dezelfde kleuren biedt zonder dat er op wordt getikt. In de meeste gevallen zou Sacred Foundry een efficiëntere keuze zijn dan Boros Guildgate, tenzij specifieke synergieën of budgetbeperkingen de Guildgate een haalbare optie maken.
