Hoewel Cryptic Gateway een solide toevoeging is aan tribale decks, zullen sommigen beweren dat kaarten zoals Aether Vial of Collected Company meer consistente en veelzijdige opties voor de inzet van wezens bieden. Cryptic Gateway kan echter nog steeds een krachtig hulpmiddel zijn in het juiste kaartspel en is het overwegen waard voor spelers die tribale synergieën willen maximaliseren.
