Gallowbraid zou goed passen in een op zwart gebaseerd agressief of middenklasse kaartspel dat gebruik kan maken van zijn vertrappingsvermogen en levensbetalingsmechanisme, mogelijk naast kaarten die profiteren van levensverlies, zoals kaarten die leiden tot het verkrijgen van leven of het aanrichten van schade wanneer het leven wordt betaald. Hoewel Gallowbraid krachtig kan zijn, zijn er aantoonbaar betere opties zoals Grave Titan of Tireless Tracker die een directere aanwezigheid of waarde op het bord bieden zonder het cumulatieve onderhoudsprobleem. Als je kaartspel echter is gebouwd om levensbetalingen te ondersteunen en te profiteren van het vertrappingseffect, kan Gallowbraid nog steeds spel zien, vooral in een informele of thematische setting.

Paying cumulative upkeep is always optional. If it’s not paid, the permanent with cumulative upkeep is sacrificed. Partial payments of the total cumulative upkeep cost can’t be made. For example, if a permanent with “cumulative upkeep ” has three age counters on it when its cumulative upkeep ability triggers, it gets another age counter and then its controller chooses to either pay or sacrifice the permanent.
