Een op poorten gebaseerd kaartspel in Magic: the Gathering zou enorm profiteren van Gate Colossus vanwege de kostenbesparing op basis van het aantal poorten dat je beheert en de mogelijkheid om opnieuw te verschijnen wanneer een poort het slagveld betreedt. Je zou echter kunnen overwegen om Gatebreaker Ram als een mogelijk alternatief te gebruiken, wat een soortgelijk effect oplevert met vertrappen en waakzaamheid voor een agressievere strategie. Over het geheel genomen zou Gate Colossus een solide toevoeging aan een dergelijk kaartspel kunnen zijn, vooral naast andere Gate-synergieën en ondersteuningskaarten.
