Inkshield zou nuttig zijn in een controle- of midrange-deck dat zich richt op het beschermen van de speler tegen gevechtsschade en tegelijkertijd een aanwezigheid op het bord genereert. Hoewel Inkshield een unieke en smaakvolle kaart is, zijn er potentieel betere opties zoals Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts of Ghostly Prison die consistentere bescherming of waarde bieden. Inkshield zou spel kunnen zien in specifieke decks op zoek naar een veelzijdig hulpmiddel voor het voorkomen van gevechtsschade, maar de effectiviteit ervan kan variëren afhankelijk van de meta en de algemene strategie van het deck.
