Een controledeck in Magic: The Gathering zou baat hebben bij het gebruik van Ixalan's Binding, omdat het een sterke verwijderingsoptie biedt en het spelplan van je tegenstander kan verstoren door te voorkomen dat hij spreuken uitspreekt met dezelfde naam als de verbannen kaart. Hoewel er wellicht betere verwijderingsopties beschikbaar zijn, kan Ixalan's Binding nog steeds een waardevolle toevoeging zijn aan de strategie van een controledeck, vooral tegen decks die afhankelijk zijn van sleutelkaarten met dubbele namen.
