De Izzet Locket zou nuttig zijn in een controle- of tempodeck dat afhankelijk is van kaartvoordeel en mana-fixing. Hoewel het een consistente bron van zowel blauwe als rode mana biedt, zijn er betere opties beschikbaar, zoals de Izzet Signet of Mind Stone, die vergelijkbare voordelen bieden met lagere manakosten en een directere impact. Over het geheel genomen ziet de Izzet Locket misschien niet veel spel in competitieve Magic: The Gathering-decks vanwege de relatief hoge kosten en langzamere activering in vergelijking met andere mana-stenen.
